Germs are impossible to avoid because you come in contact with them everywhere, but you can reduce your exposure to germs by wiping down items that multiple people use, such as keyboards and doorknobs. Buy a few packs of disinfecting wipes and take them with you wherever you go.

2. Stay hydrated.

We all know we should be drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, but it can be hard to remember to drink enough water during the rush of the holidays. Drinking water throughout the day will not only help you stay hydrated, but it can thin mucus membranes, which will make it easier for your body to ward off germs.

3. Wash your hands.

Germs are at an all-time high during the holidays, which can make you more prone to getting sick. Regularly washing your hands is an easy way to minimize your chances of catching something. It’s also a good idea to keep hand sanitizer with you so you’ll be able to keep your hands clean even when you can’t get to a sink.

4. Schedule a massage.

Pampering yourself this holiday season can actually help you stay healthy. Schedule a massage for yourself, which can help lower cortisol levels in the body. Massage therapy can also help increase your white and red blood cell count.

5. Limit your sugar and alcohol intake.

It’s okay to indulge in sweet treats and your favorite beverages during the holidays, but try not to overdo it. Excessive sugar and alcohol intake can weaken the immune system and dehydrate you, making your body more prone to illness.
